Like many others, including Oprah, I ahve struggled with my weight my entire life. I always managed to keep it in line, as for many years I worked in the fashion industry and HAD to...but with the onset of menopuase (I know, I know) and moving to the frigid north woods of MInnesota (you just want to eat comfort food and huddle on the sofa for six months every year) I allowed my weight to inch up until I had the shock and horror moment...about the time Oprah had HERS!
I have spent so much of my life obsessing, worrying, bitching, whining, thinking and obsessing some more about my weight and it has to ahve been for a reason. So, I did a couple of weeks of VERY deep reflection and talked openly about it for the first time EVER. Now I am in a place for the first time in 52 years where I am ready to let go of the obsession. I have no desire to be the weight I was at 20 or even 30, but I will be at a healthy weight, for my age, that feels good.
Without really trying, no diet pills, no crash diets, no ordering stuff off really bad tv commercials, I am losing weight and feel FABULOUS!!!! I will keep you all posted.

Yesterday my husband and I were driving home from town, in my little Geo Tracker, and he slid us into the ditch. Now, before you go, "OH NO," we live in nw Minnesota, so it was like falling into fluffy pillows, as much snow as we have. So, it was a gentle bump and there we were. We looked at each other and burst out laughing! I gently teased him about being from Mn and sliding us into the ditch and he laughed at himself.
We hopped out and started walking home, we were about 2-2.5 miles from home, and were laughing and throwing snowballs at each other and just having fun. He had his Crocs on for shoes, now the man must have 10 pairs of good winter boots...and he had Crocs on! And for the first time in weeks I had announced I was sick of wearing a big coat to drive in a warm car, so I had on a down vest over my denim shirt and leggings. We were NOT dressed for barely above zero temps. But the sun was shining and we did not really seem to feel the cold.
We walked about a mile and a neighbor drove by (rare enough occurance on our remote road) and gave us a lift home. Steve towed my little car out in a snap and all was good in the Big Woods!
